When To Send Out Wedding Invitations

Blue Wax Seal, for wedding invitation

It’s no secret that wedding planning can be a lot of work. There are so many things to think about, from the venue and the dress to the flowers and the food. And then there are the invitations. When should you send them out?

The traditional answer is at least a year before the wedding. I think there are some compelling reasons to send them between 6 and 12 months before the wedding (the sooner the better). Here are some of the benefits of sending out your wedding invitations early:

You’ll get more RSVPs sooner

This will give you a better idea of how many people to expect at your wedding, which will help you with your planning, such as determining the correct numbers of meals along with dietary requirements for each person, finalising the seating plan sooner which can then be sent off to your wedding stationer to design and get printed.

It gives guests plenty of time to make their travel arrangements and plan their schedules accordingly

If you’re having a destination wedding, or if your guests will need to travel a long distance to attend your wedding, it’s important to give them plenty of time to make their travel arrangements. By sending out your invitations early, you’ll give them the opportunity to book their flights and accommodations at a time when they may be able to get better deals.

If your wedding is not on a weekend, it’s likely that your guests will need to take time off from work to attend. By sending out your invitations early, you’ll give them the opportunity to plan their schedules accordingly and request time off if necessary.

You’ll have more time to deal with any problems

If you do discover any issues with your invitations, you’ll have ample time to make corrections and send out revised invitations. This will help to ensure that your guests have all the necessary information and avoid any confusion or inconvenience. It will give you peace of mind knowing that your guests have received accurate and complete details.

It gives you time to follow up with guests who don’t RSVP

If you don’t hear back from a guest within a few weeks of sending out your invitations, it’s important to follow up with them. By sending out your invitations early, you’ll have more time to follow up with guests and ensure that everyone knows about your wedding.

It gives you time to enjoy the planning process

Wedding planning can be a lot of fun! By sending out your invitations early, you’ll have more time to enjoy the planning process and make your wedding exactly the way you want it to be. With more time to plan, you can savor the experience and create lasting memories.

Here are some additional tips for sending out your wedding invitations:

  • Make sure your invitations are clear and concise. Include all of the important details, such as the date, time, and location of the wedding.
  • Include a RSVP card. Make it easy for guests to RSVP by including dietary requirements and other details you may need from them, such as song requests.
  • Follow up with guests who don’t RSVP. If you don’t hear back from a guest, be sure to follow up with them.
